Care: We recommend covering the drain hole with a mesh screen or similar material to prevent debris from clogging. Next, fill the bottom of the planter with non-porous drainage material. Then, fill the rest of the planter with a well-draining soil mix that does not retain water. Finally, to discourage water from pooling on the surface, cover the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark up to the top rim of the planter.
